So the 17th t20 Cup kicks off tomorrow at 6:15 at Lords, and it's the final season before the looming hundred takes over as the 'premier' tournament. With 12 different winners in those 16 years it's always fun and predictable, and Worcestershire will have their work cut out to become the first county to retain the trophy. I'm interested to see how Pat Brown gets on, he was a massive part of their success.
Most bookies have Notts up there as favourites, with Sussex and Surrey in the mix. Leicestershire have the worst odds - despite their 3 titles. They're one of just three teams choosing to have only one overseas - the others being Hampshire and Yorkshire. Interesting thinking from three teams who didn't qualify last year. Middlesex stand out to me for having the best overseas; AB de Villers and Mujeeb - although shoutout to Glamorgan for having Marsh & Marsh, and also Kent who'll possibly open the bowling with Milne and Milnes. Sussex have hung on to Rashid Khan and if him and Archer play alongside Mills, Jordan and Briggs, that's some quality attack.
Typically, the forecast for the next few days is very iffy. Let's see what happens.
One thing I spotted - no county has an Indian overseas player this year - surprised me! There may be a very good reason for that but I thought their domestic season started in Sept! Perhaps unsurprisingly, Australia lead the way with 17. (New Zealand 2, Netherlands 1, Pakistan 4, SA 4, Afghanistan 3, WI 2)
