So who expected Sussex to be the worst-performing team of the first hour?

In fairness to Sussex, Kent are still being rained off. Otherwise all bets are off.
Happy new season everyone. Hope it's filled with runs / wickets / superb fielding displays (delete to taste)

Perfect England opener material, clearly. I mean his cover drive was so pretty.

In answer to your Cobb question: lack of options?

Ben Curran scored 90 odd for once out last week so I would have thought he'd play. He was improving towards the end of last season and I really think he could become a good player.

True, he was being talked up pre-season as well. Somebody take a wicket, it’s getting dull.

Pleased for Hameed, he really was going nowhere fast last season. I just hope that the idiots on the BBC 'Have Your Say' brigade don't start calling on him for England yet. It was laughable, there were so many touting him and Bell-Drummond for the Test team when they scored one fifty between them last season. Suffice to say, I no longer read the comments on BBC stories.

I think that having Wood on loan for a couple of games has put him out of contention, but the inside word is that he will be ready for Championship Cricket in a couple of months or so.

To be fair Balladeer, judging on Leicestershire's batting last season, that could be a first innings lead.

Interesting to see that none of Notts top 4 were with the county 2 years ago.
