Hants have signed Ollie Soames and Harry Came (youth), and released Calvin Dickinson, Asher Hart & Chris Sole.
Could argue that the club lost it's soul a few years ago with all the Kolpak signings but I am a bit concerned to see us releasing our heart and soul officially yesterday

Asher Hart was the lad signed from Durham who was meant to be the next big thing right? What happened to him? Top banter releasing Hart & Sole together though.

Yorkshire looking at the Kolpak route for a player next year, may have to get off my high horse and sit on a Shetland if that happens but frankly it's bloody needed, pot calling the kettle black yesterday too as Gale called out our overseas players as being shite, certainly agree with Pujara but maybe a tad harsh expecting big things from Raval when he was asked to open in 3 matches played exclusively in September

Temba Bavuma to Northants. Think he might lower the average weight a little...

The game loses one of its finest tubsters today, as Rory Kleinveldt calls time. He shall be missed, not least in Chunky XIs. Speaking of which, Northants. are apparently lining up Jason 'Averages 12 With The Ball In 2018' Holder, who isn't chunky in the slightest.

I'm sure the Northants canteen staff will be able to help him out there. Glamorgan's new signing piqued my interest- English born Sheffield Shield batsman who went over to Aus after failing to get past the second team of a few counties. Unusual pathway. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/46809747

Right then....time for me to climb down off my high horse as Yorkshire join the Kolpak love in with Olivier. Good bowler, but a further blow to test cricket in SA, still don't like Kolpakers.

Less a horse at this point, more a donkey made out of string and paper.

Reading more detail about it now.....sheesh, earning give or take 3 times more playing county cricket then he would as a centrally contracted player for SA. It is fundamentally fucked up that SA cricket, in spite of being one of the best nations across all formats, cannot afford to keep their best players contracted

County cricket doesn't even have that much money, and loses its own players to the IPL and sometimes even the CPL. The economics of cricket are mad, although SA is partially down to the rand being weaker than England's top order, almost the same thing is happening in rugby.

Quotas also potentially having an impact too, with a desire to have around 5 players of colour in the test team, it does leave some guys at risk of not getting a place in the team

But the extra outcry over Olivier and Abbott before him (and Roussow before him) was that they were very much in the team and playing when they signed up elsewhere.
