Ballance though!
At CLS, umpires have decided that Ollie Rayner is a like-for-like replacement for James Harris, on the third day. Hmm.

Paul Collingwood’s last innings.
Even the most die-hard Middlesex fan wouldn’t begrudge him a fifty, surely?

Right then, end of season awards time?
Rory Burns has to be player of the season, scored a lot more runs than anyone else and not just at the Oval, and captained the Championship winning side.
Team something like:
1. Rory Burns 1359 runs @ 64 2. Will Rhodes 972 runs @ 44 3. Ian Bell 1027 runs @ 54 4. James Hildreth 1089 runs @ 45 5. Ollie Pope 986 runs @ 70 6. Ben Brown 912 runs @ 43, 53 dismissals 7. Rikki Clarke 463 runs @ 31, 47 wickets @ 21, ludicrously good catcher 8. Simon Harmer 57 wickets @ 24 9. Matt Henry 75 wickets @ 15 10. Morne Morkel 55 wickets @ 14 11. Tom Bailey 64 wickets @ 19

As needless and ridiculous a run out as you'll ever see

More drama, 8 to win, 1 wicket left and Quinn on strike.

Glad to see Essex win that one, always nice to see no one go unbeaten

Ooooooft.
Who’d have thought a dead rubber could get so tense? Belting end to the season!

What a week - in D1 alone we saw two hat-tricks in one game (both remarkable; part-timer for one and same catcher the other), we saw Jimmy Adams bow out with a 7 as his final scoring shot, and most remarkably of all, Surrey lost a game! (and a cracking game at that.)
All this just means we'll miss it more!

That game was wonderful and I'll miss cricket. Luckily, another six weeks of my own season (praise be to artificial pitches and semi-insane schedulers)

When’s the next long-form game? Basically anywhere will do.
