I bet Taunton becomes a minefield as soon as Somerset bat though. I thought about posting "I'm sure the ECB are glad that Somerset have delivered the mandated road" earlier, but thought better of it.

Obvs can't say for sure what the pitch is like til both teams bat....but...do you think you'd have prepared a different pitch if the title was still up for grabs?

I doubt we tried to prepare a total flatty for this one to be honest, just didn't take any risks after the ECB inquisition last week and here we are. Gives Joverton a chance to impress on a 'test-style' pitch I guess.

What’s happened to Bess this season Nemo? He seems to have fallen off the wagon a bit. He seems to have a bit of swagger about him, which I hoped would see him through the England drop.

Actually, I'm going back on my criticism of September cricket, and start a campaign for all of Yorkshire's matches to be played in mid and late September, seems to bring our opposition's batting down to our level and give us a chance

Hmm, tricky one. Don't think it's anything dramatic, he's been a bit out of form and suffered from being a bit and out of the team (I'd like to have seen us carry on playing him as a batting all rounder, but understand why we didn't when there was a realistic shot at the Championship). Would expect him to be involved with the Lions and stuff over the winter and do well for himself, he's still so young. Don't expect him to go full Adam Riley for sure, he's got enough about him. Also, wtf Durham? I thought captaining Mohammad Abbas was a good idea, but not *this* good

Ah yes. Three wickets in an over. Us Durham fans call that, ‘Business as usual.’

Already hearing things like "there's clearly a lot more swing today" from the Surrey v Somerset comms. Not liking that one bit.

Four consecutive fours for Amar Virdi isn't really how I was hoping this Jack Leach over would go, to be honest.

Good start from the Somerset batsmen too.
Ooh there’s the third one.

Mohammad Abbas seems to have got Cameron Steel out twice in the space of about two hours.
And Somerset are 37/4 chasing 500. Zut alors.

37/5. All but one wicket taker born in South Africa so far. Churlish in Tom Curran's case, I guess, but I'm in a churlish mood at the moment after the last few Somerset games.
42/6 fnnnngh.
Tom Banton in danger of carrying his bat on debut. For single figures.

Somerset will still get more runs in one innings than Durham get in both.

It's neck and neck right now.
Meanwhile Kent are batting Darren Stevens at 9 (admittedly after a night watchman- but only one!). Heck of a nine!

I like Durham, but my fantasy captain getting ten for zip in the match is a salve to the wound of Somerset. 692 delicious points.
