The West Indies are playing Devon Smith, entertainingly. He makes Alastair Cook’s Opening Merry-Go-Round look competent.

If there was a test league, this would be a relegation 6 pointer. Two teams with rather ridiculous boards, one with players who are great but can't be arsed one who has lost some great players in the past few years. Also, just read its ten years since SL played a test in the Windies, how bonkers is that, what goes on with cricket scheduling to mean they don't play?

And entertainingly Lakmal starts off bowling too short with the new ball.

After the disappointment that Inzy Jr. wasn’t involved in any hilarious run-outs, Devon Smith has backed up the baton. Top man.

Are there any words more quintessentially cricket than ‘match delayed by rain’?
This Kumara chap looks fun though. Top Cowanning from Dowrich as well.

400. Wow. I can't remember the last time England notched up 400. Not without Alastair Cook doing most of the work, anyway.

England play both these teams over the winter and on this evidence I'm not confident of them beating either...

The Windies look as if they're putting together a side with a bit of backbone and not one that roll over at the first sign of adversity, as has been their wont in recent years. And Sri Lanka? Well, they look crap. But if any team regularly plummets to the level of their opponents, it's England. Plus, the pitches will turn like records on a player.

I hope they stick with Devon Smith for the winter...

If England don’t play anybody with actual pace/bounce, though, may as well hand over the WI series now.

I’m not creating another topic for a team that are 18/3. However would someone please break up the chain of Ballaposts please? ☹️

Turns out 18/3 was pretty much as good as it got...
