Do you also dislike Pat Cummins for all of the same reasons?

I don’t think Cummins also played football nationally and wrote a book, did he? Also he isn’t a true all-rounder, not quite. Perry is great at everything and it’s deeply grossly unfair.

Imagine if Perry was a Kiwi instead, she'd be perfect in every way

I propose that we refer to The Hundred as 'The English Super League' from now on.

The 100 is going to be like the ESL, only in slow motion......news today that aussie players may miss out, that stats will count towards T20 stats overall.....the horror

I don't know how accurate Cricket Captain 2020 is with the hundred rules (usually pretty good), but I just lost the final of the tournament on run-rate, because I (Southampton) scored 148-7 from 100 balls in response to Birmingham scoring 148-7 from 100 balls.
If you're trying to attract new fans, at least decide ties in ways which make some sense like a super over, group stage position or even number of 4s?!
** I imagine it probably is a super over in reality, but this might be what they use after a tie there... bizarre

The in theory neutral BBC acting as cheerleaders for this really feels off.

The in theory neutral BBC acting as cheerleaders for this really feels off. Eh, they're not neutral on sporting events they cover, and nor is there really any expectation for them to do so. It does add to the general feeling that absolutely everyone who is keen on the 100 is benefiting financially, directly or indirectly. Still, it's here now. I hope it does... somewhat well. Enough to not bankrupt the game, and that it proves a successful gateway drug. I'll definitely watch the TV games, going to try to make a point of supporting the women's comp more (I rather liked the KSL, too, mind).

Here we go then - not a huge crowd for the first game but unsure what to expect as it's presumably above par for women's fixtures, and we've only just escaped covid restrictions.
One thing I'll be looking out for: "Overs"/"Runs per over" I've played a fair few seasons of the Hundred on Cricket Captain, and am always seeing "50 required to win off 35 balls" and trying to convert it to a six ball over run rate - it's second nature. The commentators will have been told not to, so we'll see if they slip into it
I'm hyped though. Admittedly, I'd rather we just had an EPL or whatever than some weird manipulation of the rules we all know, but I do like the concept of having 8 top level cricket sides while giving opportunities to young/fringe players in the county game. A lot of players will benefit from this imo

I'm watching. Buildup mixed, lots of things being tried out and that's fair enough. Thought it was genuinely nice that Emma Lamb especially looked delighted and a bit overwhelmed to be out there.
First ball wide, second attempt left. Not quite fireworks but maybe we'll get there.
Not sure Michael Vaughan was the ideal commentator to start with mind.

That was about as obvious a nick as you'll ever get. Cannot believe that wasn't given. Some things go across formats, eh?
Poor Emma Lamb becomes a quiz question - first wicket, first duck...

Yep - can't believe that wasn't given - unless the stump mic is turned up 10x! Then the "it will be a free hit!" "no free hit" confusion, not ideal.
You'd also probably want a less swingy pitch for the opening game - a nice flat Oval track where they could push for ~150+ with boundaries galore probably a better start.
8k crowd today and full house tomorrow according to Toppers on twitter, so pretty huge for Women's domestic games, bodes well!
