In spite of what the ECB may think, there is demand for county cricket, they have a fucking good product and need to stop fucking around with it

Trotty's retiring at the end of the season. Groundsmen countrywide will be delighted to see him go, the rest of us... not so much

That’s gutting. I guess he feels he’s done all he can with Warks., but... truly gutting. He can’t be enjoying the state of the modern game either. Go well good sir.
Fun fact: Trotty is the cricketer I’ve been physically closest to. He slipped into the boundary rope at Lord’s where I was sitting while chasing an eventual four.

As he’s a popular lad in these parts, thought I’d share that the great Felix Organ knocked in a cheeky 163 just now in the 2nd XI Championship. It’s a close game, Hampshire’s 555-7dec plays Kent’s 57 all out. Anyways, with Hampshire’s batting problems (Amla & Vince apart), we could be seeing that wonderful name back on county scorecards in no time. Mason Crane back for the one-dayers too, in similar news.
One final thing in this incredibly Hants-centred comment, I’m delighted to see Hants have posted an image of two silhouettes as their signings for t20, neither of which look stocky enough to be Afridi.

I met Trott in Dortmund last year when Tottenham were there for the Champions League.
He and Tim Ambrose had made a trip of it.
Ambrose was a good guy, Trott on the other hand was rather drunk and chasing skirt.

Random Gloucs. v. Sussex game anyone?
Rather decent Surrey side against WI-A too. Stoneman’s already out, of course.

In amidst all this t20 I must admit it's rather nice to see a Luke Wells classic on the scorecard, 17 off 74 balls. After Salt hit 14 off an over I like to think Wells had a word with him; Wells and Salt each playing out a maiden after that

Archer had been looking mediocre this game... then three off four.

Parnell signs for Worcestershire on a kolpak deal. Just when everyone was saying how likeable they are...

Probable restructure from 2020: www.thetimes.co.uk/article/603736e6-bc4a-11e8-9e6e-515c1ae38369- Still 14 games per side - Division One of 10 teams, Division Two of 8 teams - Potential seeding to organise D1 fixtures as not everyone will play everyone twice - Three promoted, one relegated in 2019 - 50 over during the 100 - T20 Blast on Thurs/Fri nights Not *too bad* given the need to accomodate the 100.

But they just expanded Division 2 to 10!
Wha... wha?

Surprised we’re not moving to one division of 15 teams, and a feeder division of 3 teams (Glamorgan, Northants and Leicestershire) to produce all the players for the other 15 teams; no promotion or relegation. 14 games (1 against each other team) - ideal!

Just stop frigging around with it, only just went 8 10...now 10 8...and not everyone playing each other? Fucking bullshit. Not even touching the 100 it can die a slow painful death watched by no one

I suspect on reflection the 10 8 move is designed to get Lords cc back in d1. Wankers.

I suppose having the bigger one to be the stronger one means you've theoretically got a bigger pool of players competing for England selection.
