I am happy that a knockout tournament is being considered to be brought back as I used to love them before they were stopped. Not so sure about the conference idea at the moment as I would like more information on how it will work before making a decision. Surprisingly the proposals have lots of ideas I suggested in my county structure document a few years ago.

The problem with the knockout competition is that it'll still require to be scheduled into the diaries in the peak summer months, meaning no CC matches will be scheduled to overlap. Get rid or marginalise the 40/50 over stuff, keep a nice 4 week window for T20 in July or whatevs, and give some time back in Aug and June to the proper stuff. Not hard is it?

Also, conferences is a stupid idea, I like having 2 (poss 3 divisions) and the threat and bonus of relegation and promotion adds a huge amount of intrigue and excitement to cricket, the last 2 rounds in D1 and D2 last year were so so compelling, getting rid of that'd be dumb.

Right, please make sure you are sitting comfortable. Put down any hot beverage you may be holding. I am about to quote Steve James in The Times for you.
Ready?
Here goes...
"Vince could be even be considered as an opener I hear"

"Vince could be even be considered as an opener I hear" I like his bowling and think he should do more of it but think that's probably going a bit too far, Broad and Anderson aren't done yet.

Judging by Northeast's wikipedia page, Hants also have the most talented sportsman in England!
Apparently, he hit 19 hundreds in 2003 as a 13 year old schoolboy, was awarded a Harrow sports scholarship and was the youngest in their 1st XI for 60 years, was a national schools rackets champion, a county squash player, cross-country runner, offered country trials in football and rugby union and held Kent age-group records in 400m and long-jump.
He also was in Sri Lanka during the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami and just climbed onto the pavilion roof to avoid injury.
What a guy
His bowling average is 147, half expecting him to've got a snooker 147 one handed or something

Footitt loaned back to Derbyshire, who could now field an attack of Rampaul, Viljoen, Footitt, and Olivier.
Ouch.
