So, who's getting relegated and promoted this year? Division One looks tight.

Go on, I'll bite. Notts. and Kent to go up, Essex and Hampshire to go down, Leics. for the wooden spoon, Somerset to win the champo. You mark my words (with crosses in red pen).

Interesting. I'll concur somewhat, with Notts and Kent to go up. Essex and Lancs for me to go down. I'd probably go Surrey for the Championship. Leics are surely favourites for the wooden spoon.

Champions: Surrey for me, one heck of a squad now
Down: Properly against the conventional wisdom but I can see Yorkshire really struggling this year with Root, Bairstow, Rashid and Plunkett likely to miss huge stretches. The next generation just don't look as good as what came before. Essex to join them.
D2 promoted: Sussex should go up, Notts will probably join them but I really think Durham might have a very good go despite the points deduction
Wooden spoon: Derbyshire look candidates but Viljoen is a good player. Glamorgan look a bit rubbish to be honest, although I'd like to see their younger players come on a lot.

I am slightly worried that a lot of people are making Surrey favourite for the title, as they tend to muck things when they are favourites, so I am going for Somerset for the title. Essex and Hampshire to go down.
I think Durham and Nottinghamshire will go up, with Glamorgan coming last.

Champions, tough one, 50/50 that Yorks either win the title or go down....going ambitious with awe inspiring and devastating championship win by 40 points, can't see our batting being as pants as it was last year, to go down, Lancs and Essex with Notts winning D2 and Glamorgan coming last

Okay, let me try to guess. My last prediction turned out to be utterly rubbish.
Champions: Arrggggghh... Yorkies. They have strengthened their batting with Peter Handscomb in and Andrew Gale out and their bowling is better than most other teams in the division. It all depends upon whether their batsmen can actually hold their bats in their hands.
Relegation: This one is a toughie. I would say, Warks and Hants. Warks because their team barring Barker, lacks consistency and if Bell or Trott don't get on well, their campaign is doomed, and Hants, because they are Hants.
Promotion: Notts and Durham. Notts weren't supposed to be relegated with that squad but it happened. The onus is on them to get back up straight. Durham were a team that finished fourth in the first division. Kent also have a strong chance but much depends on whether their bowling attack would step up. Worcs are good as well.
Wooden spoon: Glamorgan are really bad. Much will depend upon how Marchant De Lange's signing goes.

the odds for Somerset are probably about right; being dark horses is always fine with me. The bowling attack looks good, especially with Davy doing well in preseason to offer a bit of depth. Batting is getting older, but young Bartlett is about to step up to fill one spot.
i think the title will be between Middlesex (due to experience) and Surrey, who will probably bottle it!
for relegation, i think Warks will go down, especially as Patel wont be able to save them in every game. And Hants as, well, they deserve to go down.
Div 2: I think Durham can and will make up 48 points. Bloody stubborn northerners never when they're beat. Notts will probably do it as well, though i hope they don't and will back Kent (the unlucky losers to Hampshire, so therefore deserving)

Leics. have already been penalised 16 points (or, in common parlance, a third of a Durham). That prediction's looking good!

Here goes, going for comprehensive tables so I can see how horribly wrong I was in a few months...
Div 1: 1st Middlesex, 2nd Surrey, 3rd Yorkshire, 4th Hampshire, 5th Lancashire, 6th Somerset, 7th Essex, 8th Warwickshire.
Div 2: 1st Sussex, 2nd Nottinghamshire, 3rd Kent, 4th Worcestershire, 5th Durham, 6th Gloucestershire, 7th Derbyshire, 8th Leicestershire, 9th Northamptonshire, 10th Glamorgan

The next generation just don't look as good as what came before. Well that got off to a sensationally wrong start. Good job Ben Coad. On the other hand, the fantasy league took off a bit... think we doubled the number of teams today!
