I have been a member of Perivale Phoenicians Cricket Club, who play in the Middlesex League, for over 15 years. As I cannot play cricket due to my disability, I have done many other things at the club. As well as being a fan I have helped manage and coach the club's colts teams and score games.

Bumping this thread... made my debut for Pacific CC (Middlesex) last weekend (I've just moved to London). They're still going, outdoors on an astroturf strip in October, which is some effort.
I managed not to bat or bowl and dropped a (very hard, very fast) catch, but clearly proved a good luck charm as we won by ten wickets, breaking the club's all time opening partnership record that's stood since 1983, with one opener getting his first ever 50+ score... of 124*
Might play again this weekend - who says cricket has an off season anyway?

Sounds good fun Nemo. I've just moved to London too, but nearest cricket club is a good hour away. Probably for the best, I was always rubbish at the age of 13.

Where on earth are you living that it's an hour from a club, the bottom of the Thames?

The Isle of Dogs. Okay, closest is Newham (50 minutes). Catford and Cyphers (1 hr 5 mins). London Fields CC (51 minutes)
A few others 50 mins away. So not impossible, but a tad longer than I'd like to spend travelling.

Had to give up sat cricket when my first was born, cannot justify spending an entire sat out of the house with little ones at home, thankfully there is a cracking Weds night league in Sheffield which manages to give me my fix, 8 ball overs, 10-14 overs a side, start at 6.15 done by 8.30 normally. Perfect.
This season i've had to remodel my action, following knee surgery I can no longer bowl seam up so tried my hand at leg spin.....took more wickets than i've ever taken before! Must have been a crap seamer is all I can say!!!
highlight of the season was hitting a 4 to win a match by 1 wicket having come in at 6 in a chase of a massive 83.....low point was a team i'd taken 5 wickets in 2 matches against dropping out of the league, meaning me missing out on 2nd top wicket taker across all 4 divisions grrrrr, also took 10 catches this year (dropped 2 dollies as well) the ball followed me everywhere this season!

I used to play in a Pub league in Melbourne. Pretty Mickey Mouse rules - 25 overs, no LBWs, wides were replayed, and everyone took beer onto the outfield. Batsman also had to retire at 30, but could come back in once the rest of the team were all out.
My finest moment was coming in at 10, still with 13 overs to be bowled, and staying in long enough to allow out star batsman to come back in, 30 not out. I then proceeded to hold up one end whilst he smashed his way to a century. I hit my only ever six during the partnership which got a standing ovation from my teammates. Unfortunately we lost the game but my teammate ended on 103*, with me unbeaten on 29. Am very proud of that innings, which turned out to be my last for the team. Basically think of Jimmy Anderson against India... The 103 was also the highest individual score in the league that season.
