Stokes and Woakes coax a fine partnership to put all hoaxes of a Bangladeshi series win to bed. Impressive stuff this. Buttler has won his first series as captain. Kudos.

I don't know if I'm surprised or not.

"The Chittagong pitch was so slow that it was no time to be The Enforcer - even Dirty Harry would have taken the day off" - Hoppsy, classy as ever.

South Africa (best test side away from home at the time) and India couldn't beat Bangladesh at home, what hope do England have.

First day's play of the practice match has been washed out.

Haseeb Hameed was out for 16 and Duckett scored a half century in the 45-over each practice game. Moeen Ali played at Number 5, maybe he would be doing the same for the test team as well.

Assuming they want to play 3 spinners, I can't see Moeen batting anywhere but at 5.
Cook, Hameed/Duckett, Root, Ballance/Duckett, Ali, Stokes, Bairstow, Woakes, Rashid, Batty, Broad
Assuming I've not forgotten anyone obvious with Jimmy and Wood both injured...

Batty took the only 2 wickets to fall in the day and that too was in the last over of the game. It looks certain that they would play with 3 pacers and 3 seamers. I think it would be a good idea to play Duckett at No.3 and restore Root to his favoured No 4 position. Duckett will definitely play, which will leave it to be two selected out of Hameed, Batty/Ansari and Ballance. Hameed and a spinner will be selected but Ballance can bamboozle batsmen with his devastating leg spin.
I wish to see both Batty and Ball play just for some terrific puns like 'Batty with the Ball, Ball with the Bat', 'Batty batting it out with Ball', 'Ball shares the ball with Batty' and so on.

Ansari takes 4 wickets, Batty and Broad take 2 each to bowl out BCB XI for 294. It seems Batty will do a good job in the coming games.

Jos Buttler's last three long-form-ish innings: 16 off 15, 26 off 14, 4 off 14. Test material that.

He is the world's best counter attacking batsman, you know. And he plays one game per season. It would be ridiculous if he is selected ahead of Duckett or Hameed
