CHRIST RORY
Scores runs for fun at Surrey, finally gets himself into the national conversation, and... this.

England Lions squad named England Lions squads selected to play Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in November and December.
Four-day squad: Bess, Billings, Clarke, Gubbins, Holden, Kohler-Cadmore, Livingstone, C Overton, J Overton, M Parkinson, Porter, Roy, Tongue*, Virdi, Wood.
*subject to fitness
Limited-overs squad: Bess, Clarke, Davies, Gregory, Gubbins, Hain, Holden, Kohler-Cadmore, Livingstone, Mahmood, C Overton, J Overton, M Parkinson, Porter, Wood.
No real surprises in the squad, except maybe Roy in the 4-day squad and Holden in the limited overs squad.

I like how our 4-day squad displayed alphabetically is nearly a list of batsmen, then bowlers. Not miles away from a reasonably correct batting order, either. Bloody Jason Roy ruining things! - if only Dom Bess had made the test squad

Dom Bess continuing to reinvent himself as a batsman who bowls I see.

Lions squad to face Australia A: James Bracey, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Lewis Gregory, Jack Leach, Saqib Mahmood, Sam Northeast, Jamie Porter, Ollie Robinson, Dom Sibley. Translating that into a batting order, I think that's something like: Sibley, Crawley, Duckett, Northeast, Bracey, Foakes, Gregory, Leach, Robinson, Mahmood, Porter.
I see the point in most of those apart from two. With Bracey it's just because I've never heard of him, although a red ball average of 37 for Gloucs. doesn't speak wonders and it looks like he's been picked for his nine matches of white ball (61 at 109); but what the heck do you think you're going to learn about Leach that you don't already know from his county and Test career? He's England's best red-ball spinner. Pick him.

Duckett and Mahmood out injured, Hain and Curran in.
Worth noting that the match coincides with Somerset vs. Essex at Chelmsford, which could decide the title. Gregory and Leach is a bigger miss than Porter in my opinion: Harmer, Cook, Beard, Siddle? > Brooks, JOverton, Bess, Gronewald(sp).

No it doesn't, it's Somerset v Yorkshire and Essex v Warwickshire.
Taunton's Somerset v Essex is right at the end of the season for maximum tension.

Duckett and Mahmood out injured, Hain and Curran in. And they might be grateful for that: the Sams saved the game. Curran scored a fifty in each innings and took six in the first, along with Leach’s second-innings five-fer. They should both be playing Tests. Meanwhile Foakes, who doesn’t play at three, failed at three. I wonder if the same applies to other Surrey players...
