The Lions set Afghanistan 217 runs to win the match. Rashid Khan taking combined figures of 61-20-122-12, a fabulous talent.

6 wickets for TRJ in the first innings, sad to see Leach go wicketless. And Rashid, what a lad.. 8 wickets in one innings. Foakes impressing with the bat to help Lions set a decent target. Afghans are 18 for 3, with Currans grabbing them all. This sort of explains why England would play 4 seamers on a rank turner. As Rashid took 12 wickets, Rayner and Leach have combined to take just 2 wickets.
Edit: Currans take 3 apiece and Leach takes two as Lions win their game by 48 runs. A good win, coming after some late fightback from the Afghan lower order. They wouldn't be much out of place if given a test spot.

In the Lions' warm up game, SL Board President's XI lead by 56 runs with 6 wickets in hand. Lions's batsmen Westley and Livingstone played great innings to steady the ship and gaina crucial lead. Its comes as a surprise to me that Rayner is outperforming Leach at the moment.

Leach has just remodelled his action, it's not overly surprising.

Well the modification in Leach's action was at the very start of his run-up. Or at least that is what he said. It might be that Sri Lankans are better equipped to play turn and Rayner's variations and line would have brought him wickets.

Anyway Toblerone continues to be just a bit great.

The 'new' Roland in the first innings and Rayner in the second. You would be wondering if those are bowling feats yet the Midds duo posted excellent scores with bat. Lions need 8 wickets to win.
And the deed is done, with Currans snaring three each.

Leach looking hideously ineffectual in this innings. I know it's England, but does anyone else know whether he's been more threatening than his figures suggest? His remodelled action seems to have taken all the sting out of him.
EDIT: Just as planned.

Surprised there is no Northeast but otherwise looks a decent squad. Will be interesting to see whether a potential Stokes replacement will come from this squad or if they go for someone like Plunkett

Given Wood yes Plunkett no, I’m guessing that’s him firmly out of contention as well.
Also what’s ‘Traitor’ Coughlin doing in that squad?

No Coad and a couple of seamers who hardly make their country sides, though Mahmood did get Sanga out cheaply.
