Even if they had played Mishra instead of Rohit we would still be batting until 9 as I'd say mishy is probably a better batsman than Rohit in tests

Or to Buttler.
I've taken talk of this match, rather cheekily, to the LB. India now effectively 190/5. Here it gets interesting.

A terrible shot from Rohit throws away another chance to cement his place in the team and gives New Zealand a slight sniff.

Rohit throwing away his wicket.
Where have I heard that before.
Anyways pitch starting to take turn. Ashwin should have fun tomorrow.

Well now. Would you look at this. Slight feeling that wickets may come in a heap after one of these two (Kane and Latham) gets out, however this is very interesting stuff.
Also: probably the right choice of pacers. When you think that Southee probably would've got the nod over Wagner (has got Kohli 3 times in 77 balls to him) had he been fit...

Williamson's just got away with one too. Where's Ryan Sidebottom to yell 'f***ing walk' when you need him?

The SA series was a very odd one. It's not like they'd changed the players who had brought them such success earlier, and they're meant to have a very gritty playing style. Yet they capitulated meekly. Not used to playing spin I presume.
Anyway, much though I believe in home advantage, it's nice to see a pitch with a bit more in it for the batsman where wicket-taking is still more than possible. But NZ are still going to fold.
Meanwhile guess who's been called up for the rest of the series - only Jeetan Patel!

I like Kane because all his high scores are not outs.
Jeetan getting called up was a surprise, I was sure he had said no to playing for New Zealand again.

IF YOUR national team comes calling to play in what is paradise for spinners then it is a no brainer
Still glad his consistent County performance has been rewarded

Anderson ruled out of Bangle-series. Not sure if beginning of the end. Not even sure if this is a bad thing. Jake Ball presumably doesn't have the same mastery of reverse swing though... and nor does anyone else in the English setup.
Can we give Stuart Broad an earpiece that repeatedly bellows 'PITCH IT UP' at him?
