India start their epic and mega home summer next week as they take on NZ in a three-match series, after a five-match ODI series against the same opponents, they will play five Tests against England before the end of the year before taking each other on in three ODIs and T20Is, a one-off Test match against Bangladesh and four Tests against Australia.
IF they don't win all the Test series convicingly i ll be very disappointed. I'll also be disappointed if we don't win all matches (weather permitting) and will be aghast if he lose a single TEST.
It is HOME ADvantage for a reason. Also, I expect Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra to wreak havoc and if the trio don't pick up at least 100 wickets combined before the end of the England series, they'll have had a terrible two series.

You misspelled the title: it should say, 'England in India'. This is going to be more raging turners isn't it. England (and Australia and NZ) will be right up against it.

Shall we do England's winter in here too seeing as the Bangladesh series is basically warm ups for India?
Test squad announced: Duckett, Ballance and Hameed in, Batty and Ansari as third and fourth spinners. No Dawson, Leach, Jennings or Vince, and a welcome return for Mark Wood over Ball/TRJ
I hope TV is being saved to be the lead spinner on the Lions tour rather than a fourth choice for the senior side.

That seems weird to me, but having everything in one thread makes it closer to the blog... let's see how it goes.
Duckett and (I can't believe it's not) Buttler the ones worthy of comment there for me. Buttler has flopped in his one red-ball match and remains an (in my opinion misguided) 'potential pick'. Duckett > Jennings fits in perfectly with the New England Selection Method, whether it’s considering second-division cricket over first, or white ball Lions over red ball CC. Not sure I agree, but it's not an outright bad pick. And apparently he prefers playing against spin.
I suspect Dawson would have been a pick should Ansari have been unfit, so yay Ansari! And no Bell as well, which is also good.
My top team from that lot: Cook/Hameed/Root/Ballance/Ansari/Moe/Bairstow/Rashid/Wood/Batty/a quick. I think they'll play Stokes over one of those spinners, and it's not unlikely that they'll play Broaderson at Wood's expense. Not sure what to do about Duckett/Hameed, two Tests isn't really enough to get a good look at both.

I agree that Buttler has not justified his selection, but the management really want to get him into the test team for some reason. Happy that Ansari is selected, but has had an injury ravaged season and so not in best of form.

Buttler is backup keeper, I don't expect him to play. (Although it is England, so who knows what will happen.)
No real surprises. Sensible to leave Dawson at home for the tests. I don't expect Duckett to feature in the tests either, but he's a good backup option.

Not that anyone cares here but NZ just finished the first warm-up game against reigning champions Mumbai against a side with little to no first class experience and a green road.
Perfect warm up there then.
In any case, they drew the three-day game. And the Test starts in four days. CANT WAIT.

A hundred for Luke Ronchi has given New Zealand a selection dilemma considering two low scores for Guptill. The injury to Southee is a big loss to them as well.
I think India will win pretty easily, but I hope they play Pujara ahead of Rohit.

I hope so too. Ronchi's century is not much of a dilemma, u don't drop BJ period. And Unless Ronchi opens in place of Guppy, i dont see them making a change.
And I sincerely hop India's XI is this: Rahul, Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Saha, Jadeja, Mishra, Shami, Ishant.

They were discussing Ronchi as an alternative opening option before the match, which is why his century gained more attention. I'd probably open with him, Guppy has never convinced me in tests.

True, I'd agree with that. If he comes in as opener, don't think that's bad move. But i think they may give guppy a chance because he hit a long ball and with men around bat and on turning tracks, you might need someone who can take the attack to the opposition even in a Test.

In England related news, Anderson might miss a few games in th India tour due to injury as he revealed a little while ago.
Now that throws a spanner in the works or does it?

I know that the game starts too early for you English folk but the prospect of seeing Rohit picked first thing after u wake has me seething Worst part is the playing with four bowlers after all the bs about needing options with the ball Kohli you hypocrite and he dropped Mishra too. Anyways che pu and the monk have got India off to a great start and a big total might make up for just playing four bowlers

Depends if it's miracle-worker Anderson or rmf slightly ineffective Anderson. We might never know... ***series dividing line*** Anyway Pujara has just fallen. Seem to have seen quite a lot of talk being hopeful about New Zealand pulling off a surprise here - even with Sharma in the squad I can't see that happening, especially not with India batting first. And for some reason they're playing Ronchi in the middle order when he scored his 107 as an opener. Somebody really likes Guptill...

Ashwin at 8, Jadeja at 9 seems a conscious effort to replicate England's occasionally ludicrous tail - could it be a one eye on the next series selection?
