Can't see them playing two spinners. It tends not work well in England. So surely just a straight shootout between Rashid and Mo for the number 8 spot.

So that should be Rashid's then?

Yes. Not convinced by Rashid at all, but Mo is really struggling. Rashid might actually take wickets.

Happy for Rashid to have a go, but I'm very worried by the number of otherwise knowledgeable people who think he's the messiah. It could go Kerrigan-esque badly...

I don't think either are the messiah....but that's probably just my American speaking. My personal opinion is that Mo plays and Rashid was brought in as a "motivational tool".

Think Cook has confirmed Mo is first choice for this game. So its whether or not a second spinner is needed. (No)

Sounds like a diplomatic way of saying "we brought Rashid in as a motivational tool" to me.

Toss is going to be so crucial in these matches. If England are batting last, Yasir almost seems like an insta-win button, unless Broaderson knock over Pakistan for 100 in the first innings.
Also what about Rashid's motivation?

Hooray, we're batting first. And the team definitely feels stronger with Anderson and Stokes.

Fantastic bowling by Amir to get Hales out.

And yet you feel poor bowling would've gotten him out. Hales seemed to be living on borrowed time.

Sick of calls to drop Hales AGAIN, it's not like there's a wealth of replacements for him, and most of the calls seem to be focussing on temperament which he showed he had in the Sri Lanka series. That may not have been a test of technique, but it was of temperament. He has it.
We have bigger problems. Let's sort out the middle order (and ideally Moe, although that may be a long shot) before fiddling with a chap who has earned some breathing space.
Also I'm so happy with the Pokétalk on the Cricinfo commentary.

Pakistan are rank outsiders to win again. Based on what exactly?

7/1 at the moment!

Pakistan are rank outsiders to win again. Based on what exactly? Presumably it's still the away from home factor. I'd say too much of there batting is still unproven away from the flat tracks of the sub-continent so it isn't proven yet... That's about it though!
