Sri Lanka's side today is pure village cricket - one player in the XI categorised as a batsman by Sky, everyone from 3-8 an "all rounder", presumably at least a couple of them are really just nice fellas who can't really play cricket. Captain opens and keeps wicket. Beautiful stuff, brings a tear to the eye.
Of course, it's very much enforced by their entire middle order getting themselves sent home. And they say the bowlers are the thick ones.

Very much enjoying England's "get this done in time for us to watch the football" energy in this innings though.
Woakes' figures 10-5-18-4 were fairly handy.

Woakes follows up England's most economical 4 over figures in a t20 last game with England's most economical 10 over figures in an ODI since Broad's 10-4-14-2 vs NZ in 2008. And I suspect it's a lot harder to do that nowadays than in 2008 - only the third time a bowler's gone for <30 for England since March 2014 - although I guess this is a very weak Sri Lanka side

Sri Lanka are not very good at batting. Or reviewing.
It's a real shame.

This is an absolute waste of time, I can't believe that last DRS, Fernando as plumb as it comes, 6/2 and we're looking at another boring as fk ODI here unless Sri Lanka can do SOMETHING with the bat.

Dhananjaya has a bit of the "Chanderpaul during the nadir of West Indies cricket" about him, doesn't he? Resignedly doing a very competent job whilst all around him fail.

Dhananjaya has done a superb job here, almost single handedly carrying the batting line up to what looks like it could be a reasonable total, thankfully in cricket no matter how bad a team can be it only takes one person to make a score and keep a game going

When did Tom Curran last get a white ball wicket? About 4 years ago? Absolutely absurd that he continues to be selected

Career ODI bowling average 40.4 with economy 6.1, not great. Averages 38 with the bat but that's a v small sample, don't think he's anywhere near that good an allrounder really (overall List A batting avg 20).
Has taken 3-450 since the start of 2020 in ODIs, with best figures 2-83. (3 wickets in 10 games). Interestingly(?) he's taken 18 of his 30 career wickets (60%) in the 4th/5th games of a series, from 10 of his 27 matches (37%). So maybe 3 game series aren't his forte
He gets in as Eoin's lucky charm though, since we've won the toss in 67% of his games - much like how Dawson's consistently in the squad because he looks great carrying drinks in a bib
