Think we all were Humair, now we're back to thinking about a new number 3. Making Hales look better at least. (I've put the kiss of death on him now.) That said, medium-pace deubtants in the wickets? Time for Vince to take a five-fer. I may be wrong, but Vince is 80-85 isn't he? I'm sure I've seen him bowl a few times and been surprised how rapid he was - but also remember not being surprised that he didn't bowl very often. I'm sure cricinfo's "RM" is a bit of an injustice to him even if I have the speed a bit high.

They always talk about knowing your role at international level and bailing out the home side at Headingley batting at 5 while designated wicketkeeper is the definition of a role Bairstow knows

Shanaka has an average of less than 1.
Also his given first name is apparently Madagamagamage. He's done a fair amount of dagamage to England.

I'd honestly be really interested to read about why many Sri Lankans have so many names. I've never been able to find much on this, and I'm curious about the etymology, what they all mean, if there is a structure to them etc. It's quite unique as far as I know.

Vince sounds like a mess in the field.
Jed, Cricinfo comment: "If people are not singing 'here comes Dasun' by the Beatles when Shanaka is bounding in, they are not doing it right"

Good news, Graves will be on Sky at lunch spreading propaganda talking about "not franchises"
Apparently we need to compete with the IPL and the Big Bash. Even though they aren't played at the same time and thus are not direct competitors.

Meanwhile Aggers is apparently ripping Strauss apart on TMS. I'm trying to do some work, however it does sound quite fun from the livetext...

Strauss really divided opinion for some reason. What's Aggers unhappy about? (edit: presumably the points-series system?) Now he's on Sky. Ears looking a bit red

Vince finally gets his first Test run! We'll ideally need Hales to break his highest score too

The lines are, "You fired two people before you even took the job on," and (following a coughing fit) about turning mikes off: "There's a button there that you should have used once at Lord's, I recall."
Vince off the mark in Tests!

Vince straight drive, Ed Smith and Boycott absolutely purring. Is Vince the new Ian Bell?
