Just popping up a thread for news on the inagural T20 'super' league, which seems to be shaping up promisingly.
Already announced are the England players for each side:
Western Storm: Anya Shrubsole, Heather Knight, Fran Wilson
Diamonds: Katherine Brunt, Danni Hazell, Jenny Gunn & Lauren Winfield
Lancashire Thunder: Sarah Taylor, Danni Wyatt, Kate Cross
Southern Vipers: Charlotte Edwards, Natasha Farrant, Lydia Greenway
Stars: Tammy Beaumont, Laura Marsh, Nat Sciver
Lightning: Georgia Elwiss, Amy Jones, Becky Grundy & Beth Langston
The teams are now trailing that international players will be announced on Thursday... not sure what sort of level we're talking here, but if they can get the big names like Meg Lanning, Elsyse Perry, Suzi Bates & a few of the West Indians that would be quite exciting for the league.
Would speculate that Lizelle Lee of South Africa might end up at Western Storm, she's played for Bath and Somerset previously (She opened the batting and the bowling against my hilariously poor Saturday side and annihilated us)

Lookie me, I got a prediction right!
Lancashire Thunder: Deandra Dottin, Sarah Coyte, TBC Loughborough Lightning: Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, Dane van Niekerk Southern Vipers: Suzie Bates, Sara McGlashan, Megan Schutt Surrey Stars: Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp, Rene Farell Western Storm: Stefanie Taylor, Lizelle Lee, Rachel Priest Yorkshire Diamonds: Shabnim Ismail, Beth Mooney, Alex Blackwell
Impressively, the teams are still looking quite well balanced.

Good level of overseas players signed up for the tournament, hopefully they add Scottish and Irish players to the squads to give them some experience.

Seems a good balance to me.
I'll be rooting for my local Southern Vipers, and I am quite happy with Charlotte Edwards and Wisden featured Suzie Bates in our team!

Full squads released - they've added women's academy players and non-England contracted women. The names I recognise include Izzy Westbury, who does a bit of the BBC county comms and Jodie Dibble at Western Storm, Arran Brindle at Southern Vipers and Beth Morgan for Surrey who retired years ago but seems to be coming back.
Hayley Matthews is the last overseas, a good signing for Lancs

That sounds fun, is there a mini league?

Joined. Found it hard to pick finishers as I have no idea what the batting orders will be, but I got a team with a lot of internationals in it and we'll see how that goes...

Thanks, Humair! I joined as well. I'll admit that my knowledge is pretty slim too but I managed to cobble together a team.
Oh and if anyone happened to pick Lanning, now's a good time to change considering she's out of the tournament now.

The league starts with a comprehensive win for Loughborough Lighting over the Yorkshire Diamonds. Very good knock of 52 of 38 balls from Sophie Devine, and good bowling from Hazell, Grundy and Elwiss.

A winning start for the West, but two games won with scores of 80 some isn't ideal for spectators. I'm going to go to the game in Bristol next weekend I think.

A high scoring match today, Lancashire making 164 and Loughborough falling 6 runs short.

Great to see a bigger score. I'm now taking the better half to the game in Bristol this weekend, her introduction to live cricket (well, other than laughing at my Sunday side), so for the sake of my future self I hope it goes well!

Great game today between the Stars and Storm- 161 from The Stars really should have been enough but Stafanie Taylor had a brilliant blitz at the end, about 50 came off the last four overs which Is decent going.
And the other half had a great day and wants to go to the finals day now - happy days!
Nat Sciver very unlucky to finish on the losing side with 90 not out, two wickets and probably the best catch you will ever see to dispatch Lizelle Lee - hit thunderously hard and taken diving at cover, reaction time must have been tiny.
