With the warm up matches already starting and the Asia Cup drawing to a close, it seemed like a good time to get this thread up and running. Firstly, the competition begins with a qualification round on the 8th March which consists mainly of Associate nations but also contains both Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, as only the top 8 nations in the rankings automatically qualified for the 'Super 10'. Here are both of the groups for the qualifying round: Group A - Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands, Oman Group B - Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Scotland, Zimbabwe The main event then begins on the 15th March, kicking off with India v New Zealand. Here are the groups for the Super 10 stage: Group 1 - Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, England, Group B Winner Group 2 - India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, Group A Winner So both groups will be competitive but in T20 I suppose it's anyone's game on their day. England have actually been decent in the format as of late, aside from the SA performance, so hopefully they'll go well. Oh and the warm-ups today were Ireland v Hong Kong, where the former thrashed the latter by ten wickets. Zimbabwe's warm up was against the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association XI...and the HPCA XI surprisingly won by 7 wickets!

Group A is a properly tough group, especially with Tommy Cooper back in the Netherlands ranks

I think Zimbabwe will struggle to qualify, especially after losing 3 main bowlers - Madziva, Jongwe and Cremer.

Yeah, the triple injury blow will be painful for Zimbabwe, it'll be tough for them to make it through. Especially with Afghanistan there who have performed really well against Zimbabwe recently.
And as if to prove nemouk right, Tom Cooper struck a pretty quick half century in the warm up against Afghanistan despite the Netherlands losing in the end. It was a pretty odd match though, had the wickets in hand but only started striking out in the last few overs.

I realise that Hong Kong is a cosmopolitan place where people come and go to make their fortunes, but four players born in the country out of XI isn't great.

I'm not sure it matters, they'll be out of the tournament soon anyway. And yes, I am following the match - only because it's the only cricket on at the moment.

Zimbabwe win their opener by 14 runs, HK paying the price for a horribly slow start - 24/1 off the powerplay is not the way forwards. Scotland v Afghan next should be a competitive match.

Nah, Afghanistan should thrash 'em, especially in Asia.

Brisk start for Scotland's chase, excellent powerplay. Love the Afghanistan team but can't help rooting for the Scots.

60/0 off the Powerplay says otherwise...
