England squad for first two Tests in India: Joe Root (Yorkshire) (captain), Jofra Archer (Sussex), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Dom Bess (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Rory Burns (Surrey), Jos Buttler (Lancashire, first Test only), Zak Crawley (Kent), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Dan Lawrence (Essex), Jack Leach (Somerset), Dom Sibley (Warwickshire), Ben Stokes (Durham), Olly Stone (Warwickshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire).
Reserves: James Bracey (Gloucestershire), Mason Crane (Hampshire), Saqib Mahmood (Lancashire), Matthew Parkinson (Lancashire), Ollie Robinson (Sussex), Amar Virdi (Surrey).
I mean, honestly England are quite screwed, but we can dream can’t we? Who are you fronting up for the first Test out of that lot?

We're rank outsiders no matter which side we pick, but I'd probably go:
Burns Sibley Crawley Root Stokes Lawrence Buttler (wk) Ali/Bess (would probably favour Moeen but bearing in mind I've not seen him bowl for a year at this point I'll take the view of those who see him train!) Broad Archer Leach
I'm really coming round to both Broad and Anderson in the side but can't see how you do that without the most ungodly of tails.

Going to be live on C4, expect my WFH productivity to be significantly affected! Jesus. Radio is bad enough for distraction! Oh and I agree with Nemo except I’d play Pope over Lawrence if fit.

Crawley out as he busted his wrist slipping on a marble floor, as you do. So I presume both Lawrence and Pope will now play.

Crawley's wrist injury means England's wristiest batsman is likely to play... have wrists become self aware?

Didn’t happen fortunately.
Sibley and Root ticking along nicely now, meaning something’s about to go tits-up.

Nasser Hussain picked up in the 2nd test 1st innings a major difference between Root vs Sibley/Crawley, basically Sibley and Crawley were closing off their shoulders and not coming down the pitch straight....looks like Sibley's worked v hard on that between innings in Sri Lanka and out here too, opened his shoulder, coming at the ball straight and 2 consecutive innings he's made runs in tough conditions...well done Sibley and well done Nas I say

Re Lawrence.....all a bit Pope on debut wasn't it! Barely batted in the top 3 in the last 6 years, took one for the team, personally think it should have been Stokes up to 3, he's a better more experienced bat who shouldn't really be needed to bowl that much on a pitch like this

Hasn’t Lawrence played no. 3 at county level? Or is it all at 4?
Root basically caught up to Sibley now.

This is going better than expected.
Dom Sibley is an admirable cricketer. It clearly doesn't come easily to him but he finds a way.

Can't remember who....but someone had tweeted about his ave in the top 3 at county level since 2016 being feeble, something like 400 odd runs at not a lot in that time, basically spent all his time coming in 4 or lower

Nadeem bowling to Sibley, two leg side fielders. Lads, have you ever seen Dom Sibley play cricket before?

Root switch hit, and now four overthrows. Cricket is great.
