Summed up perfectly by the BBC.
In conditions that should have suited England - cool, damp and the ball holding the upper hand over bat - West Indies had much the better day, displaying all the discipline, application and organisation that helped them take the series when these two sides met in the Caribbean 18 months ago.
They bowled a fuller length than England.
Bowled a fuller length, wonder where we've heard that before.

Watching Holder bowl certainly gives me etc. etc.
And speaking of obvious crude innuendi, has Stokes broken his Wood yet?

Chase brings up his Dentury, 24 from 100. Windies 23 ahead with five wickets in hand and Archer and Wood look toothless.
Not going to plan this.

As seems to be the trend in the past 12 months, those England players out of the team are looking better and more indispensable by nature of not being on the park.

Do we really think that Broad would have bowled fuller though?

Denly 29 off 70 soft dismissal. Remarkable consistency.

Should be the end for him, sadly. But Ed does have his mates.

Do we really think that Broad would have bowled fuller though? I really do, he has been much more willing to attack the stumps this last 12-18 months and has been much better for it

Denly making another ugly 20-30 runs, Sibley, Crawley and Burns all make scores and with Root to come back, this should, one would expect, be the end of the line. Buttler, well, it was a bad decision to give a non red ball playing player a spot a few years ago, he#s 40 odd tests into his career and has achieved little. Foakes and Bairstow both better options.

Kudos Blackwell and the whole Windies team, test cricket is better for competitive matches and a good West Indies will do the game no end of good

They’ve dominated England in most of their recent matches. At which point do we admit that the WI are good and/or England aren’t?
Anyhoo, presumably the next Test’s attack will be Broad, Woakes... Stone?

If Old Trafford is bouncier as expected, I hope they don't compound the existing error by bringing in Broad for Wood and playing them both on the less suitable surface.
Well done West Indies, a really well balanced seam attack and gutsy, distinctly unflashy batting.

An excellent return for test match cricket with both teams playing well at times, but West Indies just winning the crucial moments.
